Tom Gurney has been Licensed Massage Therapist for over 5 years and practicing bodywork for over 15 years as a Physical Therapy Assistant. He received his early training in the US Army graduating with a degree in Physical Therapy Assisting. In 2003 Tom completed the Whatcom Community College Massage Therapy Program and shortly after took and passed the National Certification Test. Tom soon started his own massage therapy business and chose the name Blue Heron Massage and has been successfully practicing in his current location since 2004. Tom continues to take continuing education classes to keep his techniques up to date and stay on top of the latest training in bodywork.

Virtually ever professional sports team employs professional sports massage therapists, and is often privately employed by professional athletes.
Relaxation Massage Relaxation massage is the most commonly practiced form of massage in the West. Relaxation Massage eases stress from the body by calming the nervous system, reducing muscular tension and stimulation the release of endorphins, a natural chemical in the body that induces deep relaxation. With stress under control, the body's immune system functions better.
Injury Treatment Massage Injury treatment massage provides specific treatment designed for individuals in their particular stage of injury recovery. This type of massage is often medically prescribed by MD's, Chiropractors, Naturopaths and Physical Therapists. The goal of clinical massage is to restore the body to normal, healthy functioning.
